Effective on 31 January 2017 Companies Act 2016 has repealed Companies Act 1965 (Act 125) (“CA 1965”) and has changed the landscape of company law in Malaysia. This will undoubtedly transform the local corporate landscape and support the ease of doing business in Malaysia.

The Act aims to spur entrepreneurship, deregulate aspects of the corporate process, and introduce the concept of corporate rescue mechanism for ailing companies.
