TITLE: RETROFITTING BUILDING FOR SUSTAINABILITY: Feasibility and Process
BRUNEI: 28th-29th February 2019, Radisson Hotel Brunei
KUCHING: 11th-12th March 2019, The Waterfront Hotel, Kuching
PROGRAM OVERVIEW
Retrofitting an existing building can oftentimes be more cost-effective than building a new facility. Since buildings consume a significant amount of energy, particularly for heating and cooling, and because existing buildings comprise the largest segment of the built environment, it is important to initiate energy conservation retrofits to reduce energy consumption and the cost of heating, cooling, and lighting buildings.
This course seeks to address the current widespread issues of buildings which are not fully utilized, abandoned building and inefficient usage buildings. The current downturn in the property market with oversupply in many sectors, has resulted in many existing property assets having to be maintained at a loss due to low commercial interest. This course looks at how to retrofit “toxic property assets” to turn them around commercially, socially and environmentally.
By attending this course, participants will be able to:
- Review the steps needed before retrofitting current buildings
- Estimate the cost for retrofitting proposal to management
- Identifying the main items in running cost & maintenance
- How to make a preliminary retrofitting proposal to management
