ELECTRICAL FAULTS CAUSES, ANALYSIS, DETECTION AND REMEDIES, 8-9 May 2023 @ Le Meridien Kota Kinabalu

INTRODUCTION

This Electrical faults troubleshooting course is to provide knowledge and hands-on experience to diagnose simple electrical faults and have an understanding of the possible causes and carry out necessary isolations and repairs, whilst understanding their limitations and hazards associated with the electrical systems and machines. Electrical systems are subjected to several external & internal influences like weather conditions, insulation failure, temperature rise, etc. These influences causes abnormal operation condition that could lead to voltage & frequency variation, black out of electrical system and may damage to electrical equipment or even system failure.

In this course, participants will be immersed in real work examples that illustrate why electrical faults occur, analysed, detected and repaired at the workplace. They’ll learn how to use test equipment in their everyday jobs to troubleshoot electrical faults.

The goal of this electrical troubleshooting course is to teach participants how to reduce equipment downtime, improve overall efficiency and safety, and fix problems for electrical equipment at the workplace.  In addition, an accurate assessment of these currents is also essential for determining the settings of the system protection devices.

Course Objectives

  • Understanding the electrical faults causes of electrical circuits and equipment at workplace
  • To undertake the daily electrical fault detection and repair task in a safe and organized manner
  • To detect faults and carry out remedial work to reduce downtime due to faulty equipment
  • Understanding the effect of environmental conditions on the electrical department

ELECTRICAL SAFETY: LOCK OUT & TAG OUT (LOTO), 25-26 May 2023 @ Le Meridien Kota Kinabalu

INTRODUCTION

Every workplace has the need for electrical safety. Installation, repair, and servicing of machines and equipment which may seem routine but can be dangerous to employees performing the work. Serious injury can be caused by the sudden and unexpected start-up of the machinery or equipment, contact with live electrical circuits or the unexpected release of stored energy. Equipment that has been shut down may inadvertently be re-started or re-energized by a co-worker, or equipment that was thought to be shut down may be controlled by automatic processors, timers, or computers and re-start automatically and without warning. Failure to control electrical hazardous energy sources can results in severe injury and even fatality.

Fortunately, these hazards can be avoided through the compliance of electrical safety rules and regulations including the use of lockout/tagout procedures which includes work permits. An energized electrical work permit is a document that clearly describes the circuit, equipment, and location of the job/task at hand, the work that is to be done and justification of why the circuit or equipment cannot be de-energized, or the work deferred until the next scheduled outage. Lockout/tagout procedures isolate energy and control machinery and equipment, helping to protect employees servicing the equipment, operators, bystanders, and the equipment itself.
This course teaches your employees electrical hazardous energy, proper lockout/tagout procedures, why the procedures are important, how, and when to use them, and how to safely restart the equipment or machinery.

Upon completion of this program, participants will be able to:

  • Promote electrical safety awareness at workplace
  • To prevent electrical accident at workplace
  • Understand the Malaysian electrical safety regulations and their application
  • Understand the hazards and risk associated while working with electricity
  • Understand lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures including work permit
